WBTHC 3 v Tynedale 2

WBTHC 3 v Tynedale 2

The sun was formed many billions of years ago and has been a constant watcher over the goings on on our little planet. However young Tynemouth winger Abel Petho felt the sun's wrath on a pleasant Saturday afternoon in Hexham. Moving to receive an arial ball from Mick Christopher he stared up into the full power of creation, causing him to stumble and fall earning him a share in the newly reinstated spanner of the day award. The other recipient of this award was double goal scorer Tom Fuller who's performance could only be faulted due to the inaccuracy of two reverse hits which sailed over the fence. His two goals, both the products of good team passing plays, put Tynemouth in a commanding position in a slow tempo, messy match.

However it has oft been said that three is the magic number and the reds came dangerously close to proving this correct as Tynedale took advantage of a defensive mix up to set up a tense finale. Fortunatley for the visitors, Kier Waugh was in fine form and a newly watertight short corner routine kept their noses in front until the final whistle. In spite of conceding their first goal from open play of the season Tynemouth extended their winning run to four games, with a trip to Hartlepool on the cards the next day.

MoM: Craig Duffy, for another solid display in defence whilst still offering attacking options.
