WBTHC 3 v Jesmond PCHC 2

Whitley Bay and Tynemouth Men's 3s came back from a long winter break with their sights set on the top spot in the league. With the ejection of the previous leaders, from the university-that-shall-not-be-named, the promotion places had been opened up to three teams, today's competitors amongst them. With their match with Redcar last week cancelled this was the team's first chance to make an impact, and they failed.

With the justified look of a team rusty after lack of match practice, the home side limped through the first half, conceding 3 goals before top scorer Tom Fuller battled through a physical JPC back four and snuck in a goal.

This envigorated the reds and after a stern half time team talk they came out for the second period with a bit more of their old swagger. However the team then promptly tripped over the first hurdle as JPC knocked in another goal to make it 4-1.

Tynemouth battled back to score off a well worked short corner, with Toby Raimes powering a shot through the JPC defence. However JPC's divine retribution was swift as they scored straight from the push back before a further goal completed the rout and sank Tynemouth deep into a pit of dispair.
