WBTHC 2 v Billingham 1

Whitley Bay & Tynemouth 2s took their undefeated record to top of the table Billingham with a strong line up, including a defence that had kept two clean sheets in the first three games. Some silky hockey from Noble, Robson and Smith led to the first goal with a nice finish from Adams.  WBTHC kept up the pressure and were rewarded when Robson, who is in excellent scoring form, added a fine second. Billingham then pulled one back with a smart finish after skipper Duncan had been left on his backside. WBTHC went straight back down the other end and were awarded a short corner which was expertly dispatched by Robson. Just to make the game interesting, Emms allowed the Billingham striker to have two chances at scoring to make it 3-2 at half time.

After the free flowing first half, the second was a bit of a let down, with both midfields trying to gain the upper hand. With time running out, Robson used his years of experience to run down the clock, using his sizeable arse to his advantage. A good result for the WBTHC boys, who now have 12 points from 12, next week Marton Furness at home.
